Services

I offer a range of services that focus on your child's wellbeing.

Neurodevelopmental physiotherapy

Through a MAES therapy lens, I delve into a child’s brain and find its strengths and weaknesses. I place huge value on understanding children from their perspective, looking at behaviours, movements and reasons behind their choices. Thorough and continual analysis is key to understanding a child and understanding a child is an essential part of creating a treatment plan that works.

Milestone anaylsis

Children’s milestones are very specific to the individual, their history and current context. Thus I take a conservative approach towards milestones and can assist in supporting a child to reach their goals. I also believe that education for parents in this area is an essential part of debunking myths and teaching parents how best to approach their child’s milestones.

Chest physiotherapy

Continuous chest physiotherapy for a couple of days during sick season, can alter the course of an infection. If started early, it can do three things: 1. Encourage a child to cough more, 2. assist a child to cough more effectively and 3. clear secretions from the large airways to avoid worsening of infection. This is a wonderful conservative tool to try out if your child is coughing and/or prone to chest infections. It is especially important for children who have Cerebral Palsy as many of these children get sick a lot quicker than usual.

Core physiotherapy

Come and have some fun while also working on those difficult to activate core muscles. Core muscles in development are responsible for so many things that a child does during their day. Drawing, writing, concentrating and playing sports are just some examples where core comes into play. A weak core can have a big impact on their development and performance if not dealt with properly. I fully believe that the earlier intervention is started in this area, the easier it is to fix and the quicker your child will improve and get back on track with their development. This can hold a child back and have a big impact on them in so many ways if it isn’t dealt with appropriately.

Paediatric Rehabilitation

For all post operative and conservative management needs, I am here and ready to help! Children respond really well to proper rehab post injury and this is very important for two reasons. 1. Rehab will assist “eager to get back to normal” children in getting there quickly, safely and appropriately and 2. it can assist with preventing re-injuries which is actually one of the main causes of any injury. Rehab is an essential part of a child’s recovery from an injury and can have a huge impact on their future physical trajectories.
